The Stations of the Cross are a fourteen-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's suffering and death. The fourteen devotions, or stations, focus on specific events, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini-pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station, recalling and meditating on a specific event. A prayer is then recited and the individual moves to the next station until all fourteen are complete.
The Stations of the Cross are commonly found in churches as a series of fourteen small icons or images. They can also appear in church yards arranged along paths. This year, St. Monica will be offering Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 7:00 pm in the church, as well as the option to independently walk Stations outside in our beautiful grotto. Prayer books are provided for those who attend.

Mary’s Way of the Cross enkindles a sense of both prayerful repentance and grateful redemption as it lets us walk Jesus’ last steps with His Mother. At each station we reflect on what we think Mary felt at that moment which enkindles a personal experience of redemption and leads to a commitment to change, where needed.
Join Jason Carter and Meghan Nulty for a family friendly version of the stations! Prayers will be projected on a screen and stations coloring sheets will be provided for our younger attendees. The reflections will be geared to youth and families and there will be live worship music intertwined throughout the stations.
